UBC Opera Presents Carmen by Georges Bizet

Set in nineteen-century Seville, Spain, Georges Bizet’s Carmen tells the story of a seductive gypsy and her tragic love affair with the vulnerable Corporal, Don José. Carmen shocked its earliest audiences, but has since proven to be a masterpiece and a cornerstone of the operatic repertoire.
Under the direction of Nancy Hermiston, the UBC Opera Ensemble is joined by Maestro Leslie Dala and members of the Vancouver Opera Orchestra for this production. Later this summer, UBC Opera will tour Carmen to Campbellford, Ontario and Teplice, Czech Republic.
