In early September, long queues are everywhere. You are going many directions at once in these first few days trying to find classrooms, buy books, get a locker to put them in, book practice rooms, fill in piles of forms, meet new classmates and prepare for ensemble auditions. And it seems everywhere you turn someone is asking for a cash deposit for some kind of fee. Don’t panic! Take a deep breath and chat with the person next to you in line. It’s all good.
This student booklet was created to help you with some of the essential information that you will need to introduce you to, and transition easily into, academic and musical life here at the School of Music. This includes information regarding practice room sign-up and keys, lockers, computer lab, concert passes, and many other essential details to ease your way into life at the UBC School of Music. Please take a few minutes to go through it.
