    • Each year the Audio Manager trains select music students on audio engineering. These students then are paid to record recitals, auditions, etc. Further details and application instructions will be e-mailed to all School of Music students in September.

4.  REGISTRATION (incl. student card)

  • You MUST remain enrolled in your graduate program CONTINUOUSLY from the beginning of your program until the end -- this includes the summer term. Tuition payments are divided into three equal installments, payable in September, January and May. Please make special note of this policy, as students -- especially those not intending to take courses in the summer -- are sometimes surprised there is a tuition payment due for the period May to September.
  • Before classes start, you must pay a deposit, view the course schedule and register for courses through the Student Service Centre. The Student Service Centre is your interface with UBC. Here, you pay your registration deposit, access the course schedule, register for courses, pay fees, change your e-mail and address and eventually apply for graduation.
  • Registration for all graduate students opens on June 12th, 2013. Additional registration information, and course drop/add deadlines may be found here.
  • Student cards and UPASS transit passes are available at the UBC Bookstore, but you must register for at least one course (this changes your student status from eligible to registered) prior to picking them up.
  • If applicable, you will find out at the beginning of September whom your private lesson instructor is.
  • Some courses meet for both terms of the winter session, while others meet just in the first or second term. Be sure to register for both terms, right away, on, or as close as possible, to your registration date.
  • Academic progress: Please note that graduate students who receive a grade below 60 in any course may be asked to withdraw from the program. Furthermore, no more than six credits of courses with grades between 60 and 67 can be counted for credit toward graduation.
  • Please note that Master's students will not receive more than six credits for courses at the 300 or 400 level; no credit is given for courses at the 100 or 200 levels. Please ensure that you take the requisite number of credits at the graduate level (500 or 600 level) during the course of your program.
  • You are responsible for planning and successfully completing all of the courses you need to graduate. Your faculty advisor and the staff are willing to assist you, but you must also make yourself aware of the requirements of your curriculum and ensure that you are taking the proper courses and making sufficient progress in your program.
