Programs and Admissions > Summer Music Institute
Each July, several hundred students spend a week or two on campus under the leadership and guidance of the performance faculty of the School of Music, and other distinguished music educators from British Columbia and the United States. Adult amateurs are encouraged to apply.
Classes in basic musicianship, as well as recital performances and master classes by resident teachers, serve to enhance the total program. Private lessons are available as an option to those attending. Student ensemble performances are stressed and the camp concludes with an evening concert for the public. For many out-of-town students, this is their first exposure to music at UBC; many of the most gifted subsequently return as full-time music students.
