Events > Knigge Music Competition
I regret to inform you that after six great years the Knigge Music Competition will not take place in 2014, and there are no plans to continue it.
The Knigge Music Competition, hosted by the School of Music at the University of British Columbia, has been one of Canada’s most successful events of its kind. We have been privileged to welcome some of our country’s finest young pianists to our beautiful campus and city. It has been thrilling to see these talented artists compete in such a collegial setting. We’ve enjoyed great masterworks of the piano literature, and multiple performances of new music by notable Canadian composers, established and emerging.
On behalf of the entire School, I thank everyone who participated over the years with the Competition. You helped make it an immense success.
Most especially, I would like to acknowledge our founding donors, Dieter and Hanne-Lore Knigge, for their tremendous support of the Knigge Music Competition for six memorable years. Their substantial investments and input made this event unique and one of the best music competitions in Canada. We are all grateful for their past generosity and for their ongoing support of students at UBC.
