About UBC Strings/Harp/Guitar

The B. Mus., M. Mus and D.M.A. programs at the UBC School of Music offer students advanced training leading to professional careers in chamber music, orchestral, teaching and solo performance. The school of music at UBC is the perfect size to give students a healthy musical environment necessary to help students advance. UBC aims to prepare music students for a successful and fulfilling music career With an excellent faculty/student ratio each student will get the individual attention needed at this important stage of their musical development. A musical degree at UBC means that each student will graduate with a superior technical and musical knowledge of their instrument without sacrificing their history and theory needs. The faculty at UBC have performed all over the world and take a hands on approach to each student.

Student support

The School of Music’s ability to reward excellence with scholarships has markedly increased in recent years. This year, awards in amounts ranging from $500 to $3,500, were made to over 50 undergraduates.

Included among these were several substantial entrance scholarships. All students are automatically considered for these scholarships - no special application is necessary. Living in Vancouver, consistently rated as one of the world’s most livable cities, provides a vibrant, cosmopolitan atmosphere for study in a setting of stunning natural beauty. Poised between ocean and mountains, Vancouver enjoys a diverse and exciting music scene with numerous performance opportunities for students. Ample housing options are available both on and off campus.
