The Music Library, on the 4th floor of the Music Building, houses one of Canada's finest collections of music materials. It is especially proud of its outstanding research collection. Its rich holdings support the School's growing curriculum and research with over 80,000 books and scores, 6,000 microfilms, 150 music periodicals, 23,000 records (compact discs and long-playing) and 400 videos.

Open stacks allow access to all but the library's rarest holdings. A listening room provides listening stations with players for CD's, long-playing records, cassettes and open-reel tapes. Additional rooms house a microfilm reader, two photocopiers and a TV/VCR.The U.B.C. Library System, with a total collection of over three million items, also includes music education materials and the Wilson Recordings Collection of over 40,000 discs. The latter is a circulating collection housed in the Koerner Library, a three minute's walk from the Music Building.

The new Koerner Library also offers each student electronic access to its catalogue holdings, Internet access into other databases and modem access to NETINFO.
